Flames at the Top of the GSC Cross Country Poll

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Lee University men's cross country team was selected by the Gulf South Conference coaches atop the GSC preseason poll. The Flames also had three on the runners to watch list. Pierre Chauveau, Stephen Clark, and Tucker Wright were selected by the coaches.

Last year, the Lee men's cross country team placed four runners in the top five and six in the top 10 to win the 2025 GSC Cross Country Championship. The Flames tallied just 21 points to beat runner-up UAH by 36 points. The 

The win by the Flames was their fourth consecutive GSC Championship and eighth in program history. They also posted the lowest men's team score at the GSC meet since 2011.

The Flames placed five runners in the top eight on their way to recording the program's seventh championship at the 2025 NCAA Division II South Region Championships. The Flames totaled 24 points to beat Florida Southern by 29 points.

They completed last season with a 10th place finish at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships.

Pierre Chauveau, a junior, grabbed second place at 23:48.55 at last year's GSC Championship. Wright was third at 23:51.86,  Clark was Lee's ninth runner. He completed the race at 25:06.39 to finish 25th overall. 

Lee will open the 2026 season on September 19th. They will run at the Jacksonville State University Invitational in Huntsville, Alabama.
