The Lee women's tennis team opened the 2013 season in convincing style by blanking Bethel University (TN) 6-0 on Friday. The Lady Flames were scheduled to face UT-Chattanooga on Saturday, but cold weather forced the action to be delayed until a later date.
Tonya Walters began the day with a 6-0, 6-2 win, Jodie Rice followed with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph and Maclain Yowarsky put the finishing touches on the singles events with a 6-0 whitewash.
In doubles, Walters and Tara Garner combined for a 8-2 win. Yowarsky and Christy North and Jodie Rice and Kelsey Lovingood scored the final two doubles wins by 8-0, 8-0 scores.
The Lady Flames will return to action on Feb. 19 and travel to Auburn-Montgomery to face one of the NAIA's top teams, year-in and year-out.
