Caroline MacAusland pitched a perfect game on a near perfect day for softball to complete a Lee doubleheader sweep of Emmanuel College Friday afternoon at Butler Field.

MacAusland (4-0) worked five perfect innings retiring every batter that stepped into the box in game two. The freshman struck out six and helped herself out snagging a hard line drive up the middle in the fourth inning to preserve the perfect game. Amanda Lynn also played a key role when she gloved a sharp one hopper in the hole and made a strong throw across the diamond to retire Emmanuel's Madison Franklin for the first out in the top of the fifth inning.
The Lee offensive provided plenty of support in game two. The Lady Flames pounded out 11 runs on 11 hits to complete the run-rule of the Lions. Meghan Macias drilled her first home run of the season to cap off an eight-run third inning for Lee. She finished with four RBI. Charlie Wooden drove in the first runs of the contest with a two-run double in the bottom of the first. Dezirae Parsons and Lynn also had two hits in the contest.
Kaitlyn Lawrence started for the Lady Lions and worked two-plus innings giving up nine runs on nine hits. She walked five and struck out one. Cristina Insua came on in relief and worked the final two innings. She was charged with two runs on two hits and walked one.
The sweep moves the Lady Flames to 20-1 on the year and a perfect 6-0 in the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC).
Lee will be back in action tomorrow afternoon when they host another SSAC club, Southern Wesleyan University at Butler Field. Game one of the doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Lee 6, Emmanuel 2
Freshman Angie Hughes (10-1) worked five scoreless innings to lead the Lady Flames past Emmanuel in game one of Friday's twinbill. Hughes gave up just two hits and struck out 10.
After the two clubs battled to a scoreless tie through the first 3 1/2 innings the Lee offensive opened things up in the bottom of the fourth with four runs. Lee would add two more insurance runs in the fifth inning to open up a 6-0 advantage.
Wooden helped pace the offensive attack going 2-for-4 with a double and four RBI. Macias also doubled and drove in a run. Lexie Dean added a pair of hits and scored two runs.
Haley Shinall started in the circle for Emmanuel and worked six innings giving up six runs on eight hits while striking out four. Shinall seemed to be cruising through the high-powered Lee lineup until she ran into trouble in the fourth.
The Lady Lions were able to scratch across just two unearned runs in the seventh against the solid pitching of Hughes and Katie Deems. Deems worked two innings in relief and gave up just two unearned runs on two hits. She walked one and recorded one strike out.
