Shorter Wins Over Lady Flames in Tennis


ROME, Ga. - Shorter's Candice Laurent and Aurelie Gaborit defeated Lee's Tarah Garner and Tonya Walters 8-6 in the No. 1 doubles and Iesha Holton teamed with Sicquena Sinclair to stop Maclain Yowarsky and Christy North in the No. 2 doubles (8-4) to spark the Lady Hawks to a 9-0 win over the Lady Flames on Wednesday afternoon.

Shorter improved to 7-5 overall by sweeping all six singles matches in straight sets. The Lady Flames, 2-3, and ranked No. 18 in this week's NAIA poll, were scheduled to return to SSAC action and host No. 1-ranked Brenau University on Friday at 2 p.m. at the DeVos Tennis Center, but due to the unpredictable weather, the match has been postponed and will be rescheduled.
