MOBILE, Ala. – The No. 3-ranked Lady Flames softball team split an SSAC doubleheader with Spring Hill College (22-5, 2-2 SSAC) Friday afternoon. Lee was shut out 2-0 in the opener and came roaring back to claim an 11-4 win in game two.
The Lady Flames (24-3, 10-2 SSAC) will continue their conference weekend with two games Saturday afternoon at the University of Mobile. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. EDT. Mobile is offering live video at http://www.ihigh.com/mobilerams/.
LADY FLAMES 11, SPRING HILL 4
Dominique Hannah hit solo home runs in her first three at bats and Charlie Wooden blasted a pinch-hit grand slam to lead the Lee offense to 11 runs and 14 hits. The Lady Flames scored in six of the game’s seven innings.
Hannah finished the game at 3-for-4 with three RBI and four runs scored. Laurel Allen joined Hannah in batting 3-for-4 in the game.
Lexie Dean and Katie Deems were the only other Lady Flames to tally multiple hits. Dean was 2-for-5 with two RBI and Deems was 2-for-4.
Ana Coscorrosa recorded a pinch-hit single to join Amanda Lynn and Lizzie Stevens with one safety each.
Mariha Partman had two of the Lady Badger’s four hits, including a three-run home run that tied the game at 4-4 in the fourth inning.
Angie Hughes started in the circle for the Lady Flames and gave up four runs, four hits and four walks before being relieved. Hughes struck out four SHC batters in 3 1/3 innings.
Katie Deems (4-0) held the Lady Badgers hitless over the final 3 2/3 innings to earn the win.
Linsey Dickerson (6-3) was charged with the loss. She was tagged for four runs (one earned), 10 hits, two walks and struck out one Lady Flame.
SPRING HILL 2, LADY FLAMES 0
Solo home runs by Partman and Taylor Webre were the difference as the Lady Flames outhit their hosts, 5-4, but stranded 11 runners on base.
Hannah, Dean, Coscorrosa, Lynn and Dezirae Parsons each stroked singles in the loss.
Caroline Sagrera (15-1) earned the win after shutting out the Lady Flames for the first time this season. Sagrera scattered five hits, walked four and struck out 11.
Caroline MacAusland (4-1) was the hard-luck loser after surrendering two runs on four hits, walking five and fanning seven.
