On a bright, sunny Saturday afternoon the Lady Flames tennis team got back on the winning side with an 8-1 defeat of visiting Reinhardt University at the DeVos Tennis Center.
Tonya Walters and Tarah Garner put the Lady Flames (3-4) on the winning track with an 8-2 victory over Diana Nariño and Alyssa Kroll at No. 1 doubles. Reinhardt evened the score at 1-1 after Alyssa Seibold and Tara Mathis edged Maclain Yowarsky and Christy North, 8-6.
Jodie Rice and Kelsey Lovingood teamed up for an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles to give Lee a 2-1 lead following doubles play.
Walters and Garner won their singles matches in straight sets after dropping just one game each.
Rice earned a three-set win over Maria Bejarano. Rice won the first set 6-1, lost the second set 6-3 and claimed the match with a 6-1 mark in the final set.
Yowarski finished a straight-set victory at No. 4 singles after outlasting Kroll 7-5 in the second set. North defeated Seibold 6-1 and 6-4.
Katie North held off Lindsay McCutchen, 6-1, 6-3 at No. 6 singles.
The Lady Flames will be in action Tuesday afternoon against Tennessee Wesleyan College. The non-conference match is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start at the DeVos Tennis Center.
