CLEARWATER, Fla.- The Lee softball team (1-2) dropped the first two games of the Eckerd Spring Tournament on Friday evening after falling to the University of Tampa, 6-2 in game two.
Lee will need to have a short-term memory as they will get right back on the field for a pair of games on day two of the three-day event. The Lady Flames will battle Rollins College at 11 a.m. before squaring off with Florida Tech at 1:30 p.m.

Looking to bounce back after a run-rule defeat to Saint Leo earlier in the day the Lee softball team drew periennial Division II power the University of Tampa in the nightcap of Day one.
Tampa struck first with a run in the first inning after Megan Paul was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Lee starter Angie Hughes battled back to induce a ground out to short-circuit a potential big inning for the Spartans.
After a solo run in the second, UT opened things up with a three-run fourth to take a 5-0 lead. The Lady Flames got on the board in the bottom half of the inning with an unearned run . The Spartans tallied an unearned run in the sixth before the Lady Flames added another unearned run in the home half of the sixth when freshman Hailey Clark reached on an error to score Dominique Hannah.
Ana Coscorrosa led the offensive attack for Lee going 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Laurel Allen added the only other hit with a fifth-inning single.
Hughes (1-2) bounced back from a difficult game one start with a complete game peformance. Hughes gave up six runs but only two were earned. The sophomore scattered seven hits and struck out eight.
Kayla Cox (1-0) started in the circle for the Spartans and tossed a complete game four-hitter. She recorded 14 strikeouts and gave up just two unearned runs to record the victory.
Lee 0, Saint Leo 14
The Lady Flames were unable to overcome a 12-run first inning by Saint Leo (2-2) as they fell 14-0 in their opening game of the Eckerd Tournament on Friday afternoon.
The first inning was one coach Emily Russell and her team would like to soon forget. The Lions captilized on five Lee errors to put the game out of reach early with 12 runs on six hits.
Less than a week removed from a no-hit performance, Angie Hughes (1-1) struggled early giving up 12 runs (four earned) in two innings of work. The sophomore surrendered six hits while giving up five walks and five wild pitches.
Clark came on in relief and worked two innings giving up two runs on three hits. She walked two and struck out a batter.
Allen and Dominique Hannah each singled to account for the only two hits for the Lady Flames. Coscorrosa was the only other baserunner as she drew a walk in the fourth.
The Lee offensive was held in check by Sarah Steiner (1-2) who gave up just two singles while striking out six. Ashley Elhers would come on to work fifth and final inning for the Lions. She set the Lady Flames down in order recording a pair of strikeouts.
The Saint Leo offense was aided by Brittany Ewing who tripled and drove in three runs. Cassie Boggs and Victoria Obermeier each added RBI doubles. The Lions finished with nine hits as a team but showed good plate discipline in drawing seven free passes.
