The Lee University women's tennis team swept the doubles action and won 4-of-6 singles matches to claim a 7-2 non-conference win over Tennessee Wesleyan College at the DeVos Tennis Center Wednesday afternoon. Lee improved to 14-7 while the Lady Bulldogs dropped to 8-5.

Francesca Tondi and Marta Garcia-Nieto defeated Thays Cardoso and Rachael Walker, 8-2. Joanna Grzegrzolka and Morgan Friedlander were 8-3 winners over Katerina Saskova and Wendi Watson. Maclain Yowarsky teamed with Laura Beth Hardesty to hand Noemi Principal and Haruka Hirata an 8-4 loss.

Tondi shut out Saskova for a quick win at No. 1 singles. Garcia-Nieto secured the team win after losing just one game to Cardoso. Grzegrzolka beat Hirata 6-2 and 6-1 in the No. 2 spot.

Walker ended Lee's shutout bid with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Friedlander. Principal held off Krista Good for the 6-2, 7-5 win in No. 4 singles.

Yowarsky lost her opening set to Watson, 7-5, then won the second set 6-3. Yowarsky earned the win at No. 5 singles with a 10-7 superset tie-breaker.

"We probably played our most complete doubles for the year today," said Lee head coach Patric Hynes. "Our girls were sharp early and we felt good going into this one. We had two great days of practice, so it was nice to see the girls get rewarded for their efforts. Our top three were dominant and Mac showed toughness to fight back from a set down."

The Lady Flames will be back on the courts on Friday at the University of North Alabama. The Gulf South Conference match is scheduled for 2 p.m. EDT.
