Box Score VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Lee University women's tennis team began its spring break trip with a 6-0 defeat to No. 15 Valdosta State University Saturday morning at the VSU Tennis Courts. Lee falls to 7-5 overall and 2-5 in the Gulf South Conference (GSC).
Valdosta State (4-3, 1-0 GSC) breezed through the doubles competition to claim a 3-0 lead. Francesca Tondi and Marta Garcia-Nieto fell 8-2 to Bea Morales and Josephine Jedrychowski. Maclain Yowarsky and Krista Good lost 8-0 to Laura Ubeda and Sabrina Schmidt. Morgan Friedlander and Laura Beth Hardesty had the same score against Daniella Barta and Anke Poncelet.
Jedrychowski defeated Yowarsky 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. Poncelet beat Friedlander by matching 6-1 marks and Joanna Lario shut out Hardesty at No. 6 singles. The final three singles matches were left unfinished.
The Lady Flames will now travel to Orlando, Fla., for the rest of its trip. Lee faces Southwest Minnesota State University Sunday morning, University of the Sciences in Philadelphia and University of Sioux Falls on Monday and St. Cloud State University on Wednesday.
