Lady Flames Lose Regular Season Finale, 8-1

CLINTON, Miss. – The Lady Flames tennis team finished its regular season schedule with an 8-1 loss at Gulf South Conference opponent Mississippi College Saturday afternoon.

Lee begins play in the GSC Tournament on Thursday, April 20, in Montgomery, Ala. The Lady Flames are seeded seventh and will face Valdosta State University at Lagoon Park at 10 a.m. EDT.

The Lady Choctaws (13-7, 7-3 GSC) swept the doubles competition and won 5-of-6 matches in singles competition to record the GSC victory. The Lady Flames dropped to 8-6 overall and 4-6 in the GSC.

Anna Shuliak and Christa Owen blanked Francesca Tondi and Nicole Shennett, 8-0. Sofia Gonzalez-Carrera and Aneta Golawska beat Krista Good and Laura Beth Hardesty 8-1, while Brenna Keller and AnneMarie Kimball were 8-3 winners against Joanna Grzegrzolka and Marta Garcia-Nieto.

Katie Reid put Mississippi College ahead 4-0 with a default win at No. 6 singles. Hardesty ended the Lady Choctaw's bid for a shutout with a victory in the fourth spot.

Keller clinched the team match with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Grzegrzolka. Kimball defeated Garcia-Nieto 6-1 and 6-3. Golawska beat Good by the same scores and Shuliak downed Shennett 6-3, 6-1.
