The Lady Flames tennis team was defeated 9-0 by No. 10 Valdosta State University in a Gulf South Conference match Saturday morning at the DeVos Tennis Center. It was Lee's second match against a ranked opponent in the last two days. The Lady Flames dropped to 7-5 overall and 4-5 in conference play, while the Lady Blazers improved to 14-5 (9-1 GSC).
Due to an injury in Friday's match against West Alabama, the Lady Flames were unable to field a complete third doubles team and a sixth in singles competition.
Bea Morales Hernandez and Anke Poncelet (ranked eighth in the South Region) defeated Marta Garcia-Nieto and Joanna Grzegrzolka, 8-3. Daniella Barta and Sabrina Schmidt were 8-1 winners over Krista Good and Laura Beth Hardesty.
 "The score doesn't reflect it, but our ladies fought hard today," said Lee head coach Patric Hynes. "We'll get ourselves ready for Tuesday."
The Lady Flames will host Tennessee Wesleyan University in a non-conference matchup at 2 p.m.
