LOUISVILLE, Ky. – On a chilly Saturday morning, the Lee University men's cross country team claimed its first team win of the 2020 season in the Louisville Cross Country Classic Blue Race. The 8K race at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park included 119 runners from 13 schools.
The Flames placed seven among the top 15 runners on their way to scoring 30 points. Taylor University was second with 75 points and Malone University was a distant third with 100 points.
"Our men did exactly what we wanted them to do today, they ran as a team the whole race," said Lee head coach Caleb Morgan. "Our result this week was much better than two weeks ago. We are progressing perfectly."
Christian Noble was the individual winner for the second time this season. He crossed the finish line at 23:34.0, over one minute before runner-up Landon Miller of Indiana Wesleyan. Noble's time was the second-fastest from the four men's 8K races. Paul Arredondo of Charlotte won the Gold Race with a time of 23:30.4.
"Christian ran the most dominating cross country race of his collegiate career today. He led from start to finish and represented our team so well," added Morgan.
Caleb Eagleson was third overall with a time of 24:53.8. Adan Rodriguez (25:07.9) and Silas Eckenroad (25:11.1) finished sixth and eighth, respectively, to give Lee four top 10 finishers. Ezekiel Harless wrapped up the Lee scoring with a 12
th-place finish (25:17.7).
Will Stone and Casey Guthery were the Flames' spacers. Stone was 14
th (25:19.8) and Guthery completed the race at 25:22.0 (15
th). Thomas Kelton was the eighth Lee runner in the top 20 with a 20
th-place time of 25:30.4.
Titus Lagat posted a mark of 25:47.0 to finish 25
th and Dawson Reed was 28
th (25:50.4). Caleb Guthery finished 62
nd (27:15.2) and Ben Tabor was 90
th (28:22.8).
The Flames return to action on October 16 in Birmingham, Alabama, for the UAB Blazer Classic.
