Tondi Named Second Team All-Decade By GSC


GSC WOMEN'S TENNIS ALL-DECADE AWARDS (2011-20)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Gulf South Conference announced the GSC All-Decade Awards for women's tennis Thursday afternoon and Lee University's Francesca Tondi was one of eight student-athetes selected GSC Second Team All-Decade.  

The awards factor in the years 2011-2020 and were jointly selected by institutional personnel, coaches and league administrators.

"Francesca had a tremendous impact on our program and should be proud of what she accomplished here," said Lee head coach Patric Hynes. "Although her senior year was cut short by injury, she had a fantastic career at Lee and this is an accolade that she fully deserves. Congratulations to Fran, she left her footprint on this program and it's great to see her efforts be recognized by the GSC."

Tondi played four seasons (2016-2019) with the Lady Flames. She was a three-time All-GSC performer and played both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles for Lee. She was named First Team All-GSC in 2016 and was awarded Second Team All-GSC recognition in 2017 and 2018.

In her Lee career, Tondi amassed a singles record of 40-14, including a 19-4 mark as a freshman in 2016. She was 8-3 as a sophomore, 9-5 her junior season and was 4-2 in the injury-shortened senior campaign. She also carried a record of 33-26 in doubles competition.
