BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Gulf South Conference released its Runners of the Week awards on Tuesday and the Lee University's Christian Noble and Aaron Himes claimed both honors after their performances on Saturday at the CITY AUTO Memphis Twilight XC Classic. Noble was named GSC Runner of the Week, while Himes earned GSC Freshman of the Week.
Noble led the Flames to a first-place team finish last weekend. The senior won the event by more than 20 seconds with a time of 19:13.04 for the four-mile race. As a result, the Flames bested conference-foe Alabama Huntsville as well as Division I opponents Ole Miss, Middle Tennesse State, Mississippi State, Alabama, Central Arkansas and Western Kentucky.
Himes was the top freshman at Saturday's race with a time of 20:20.87. He finished 24
th overall and was the sixth Lee runner to cross the finish line.
The No. 10 Flames travel to Tallahassee, Florida on September 17 for the 2021 FSU XC Open. The men's 8K race will be held at Apalachee Regional Park.
