NEW ORLEANS – The Men's and Women's All-Academic Teams and All-Academic Athletes for the 2021 NCAA Division II Cross Country season were announced last Thursday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The Flames and Lady Flames were among 209 (98 men, 111 women) different programs who were named All-Academic Teams for their efforts during the 2021 season. In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period and compile a team score at their respective regional championship meet, among other qualifiers.

"Both teams had a fantastic semester in the classroom," said Lee head coach Caleb Morgan. "These are the highest GPAs we have ever recorded for both teams. We have taken a strong initiative the last two years in not only excelling on the cross country course, but also excelling in every aspect of life. Our athletes have embraced the challenge, I couldn't be prouder of the work they are doing."

The Flames posted a combined team GPA of 3.448, while the Lady Flames had a cumulative 3.768 team GPA.

Lee had five men and seven women named All-Academic Athletes. Representing the Flames on the All-Academic Athletes list were Caleb Eagleson, Silas Eckenroad, Casey Guthery, Ezekiel Harless and Will Stone. The honored Lady Flames were Grace Adams, Lily Hare, Aria Hawkins, Danielle Horter, Olivia McLain, Toni Moore and Celine Ritter.

Overall, there were 275 men from 98 different institutions and 357 women from 104 separate institutions who were named All-Academic Athletes. To qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-30 percent of their respective regional championship meet, among other qualifiers.
