Lady Flames Drop Two Games To UAH

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Lee University softball team dropped both games of the double header to the University of Alabama-Huntsville Chargers on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Flames lost the first game in nine innings 5-4. Lee is now 1-2 in extra-inning games this season. They then lost game two by a final score of 5-0. With the two losses, the Lady Flames fall to 3-8 overall and 0-2 in GSC play. 
 
The Chargers got on the board first in the game. Alexa Douthitt hit a solo home run. In the second inning, Rylie Goodridge got on base via an error and then Kylie Bohl had a single but both were stranded on base.
 
Lawren Hays had a triple in the bottom of the third inning, but Natalie Pruitt was able to get out of trouble in the circle for the Lady Flames. Bohl got her second hit of the game in the fifth inning but the Lady Flames left her stranded
 
In the top of the seventh, Sidney Lee hit a solo home run to tie the game at 1-1. UAH had a single but left the runner stranded and the game went to extra innings. Neither team could get a base runner on in the eighth inning. Alexa Scalzo got a single to start off the top if the ninth. Javaria Smith then hit a double to advance Scalzo to third. Goodridge drove in Scalzo on a sacrifice fly to give the Lady Flames the lead. The very next batter Bohl hit a two-run home run to give Lee a 4-1 lead.
 
In the bottom of the ninth, UAH used two singles and a three-run home run from Maddie Carton to tie the game. UAH won the game after a walk, two singles, and ground out to win the game 5-4.
 
Bohl was 3-for-4 from the plate with two RBI and a run scored. She was the only with multiple hits in the contest. In the circle for Lee, Pruitt went eight innings and gave up three runs on six hits. Olivia Tyson came in in the ninth inning and gave up two runs on a walk and two hits.
 
In game two, the Lady Flames got two hits in the first inning behind hits from Laney Harris and Scalzo. Goodridge was walked to load the bases but all three were left stranded. The second inning saw Annalyn Ormsby and Harris reach base safely with a walk abnd a hit by a pitch but both were stranded again. Goodridge was walked in the third but was left there.
 
UAH didn't get their first hit or base runner until the fifth inning. Carton led the inning off with a double, then Sadie Thompson was walked. Jessica Eddie then doubled to score two runs to give UAH the lead. Heather Phillips then drove in the final run of the inning to make it 3-0.
 
Lee again loaded the bases in the sixth inning with a single from Ana Macha and Shelby Cole and Laney Harris receiving walks but the Lady Flames could not capitalize. Thompson added two more RBI for UAH in the bottom of the sixth for the 5-0 lead. Lee got three more base runners in the seventh but could not score again.
 
The Lady Flames left 11 runners on the bases in the loss in game two while UAH left three. Lee only managed four hits from four different players. 
 
Lee will look to take one game from the series on Sunday, February 19 at 1 PM in Huntsville, Ala.
