Lady Flames Earn Sweep Against Cedarville Saturday Afternoon

Box Score CLEVELAND, Tenn. –Another big inning led the Lee University softball team to a sweep over Cedarville University 13-3 on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Lady Flames improved to 3-0 for the first time since the 2017 season. Alexa Scalzo led the way for the Lady Flames going 4-for-4 from the plate, driving in three runs and scoring three times.
 
Lee got the game going in the first inning, Scalzo took advantage of a throwing error on a stolen base attempt to score the first run of the game. Lee tagged on three more runs in the bottom of the second. Marquila Howell drove in Rylie Goodridge and Ava Perkins on a bloop single into center field. Howell then scored on a line drive single to left center field from Scalzo.
 
The Yellow Jackets got on the scoreboard in the top of the third when Kayley Clark hit a solo home run. Cedarville got their other two runs in the top of the fourth when Clark drove in two more runs.
 
Lee broke the game open in the bottom of the fourth plating nine runs. Howell got the runs going scoring on a wild pitch. Catcher Bella Galloway then doubled to center field scoring Scalzo and Hailey Simco. Rylie Goodridge, Annalyn Ormsby, and Ava Perkins each had an RBI. Scalzo ended the scoring with a two-run home run.
 
Olivia Tyson (2-0) went the distance pitching earning her second win of the season. She gave up three runs on six hits in the contest. 
 
Lee will back in action on Wednesday, February 7. Lee will head to Harrogate, Tenn. and take on Lincoln Memorial University with a double header beginning at 1 PM.
