RESULTS
LAKELAND, Fla. – The Lee University women's cross country team had two runners in the top four on their way to recording a second-place finish at the 2025 NCAA Division II South Region Championships Saturday morning. The 6K race was held at Holloway Park.
The Lady Flames had two runners in the top four but were edged by one point by Palm Beach Atlantic. The Sailfish recorded 76 points to Lee's 77. Tampa was third with 87 points to claim the final automatic qualifier to the NCAA DII National Championships.
Lauren Wallace of Mississippi College was the individual champion with a time of 21:18.27. Maria Mitchell was less than five seconds behind at 21:23.14 to claim second place out of 135 runners. Estella Clemons was fourth after stopping the clock at 21:31.47.
Ava Sparks and Capucine Cureau gave Lee four All-Region performers by placing among the top 25 runners. Sparks (22:17.56) was 20
th and Cureau placed 22
nd (22:22.14). Katie Beam completed the Lee scorers by finishing in 29
th position (22:40.83).
Sadie Wielfaert and Abi Moore were the final two Lee finishers. Wielfaert completed the circuit at 23:00.83 to place 37
th. Moore was two spots later at 39
th with a time of 23:05.20.
The Lady Flames will now turn their attention to the 2025 NCAA DII Championships which will be held Saturday, November 22, at Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The complete field of 34 teams and 24 individuals will be released on Monday, November 10.
