VALDOSTA, Ga. - For the first time in program history, the Lee University softball team has two players on the Division Two Conference Comissioner's Association (D2CCA) First Team All-South Region. Senior Alexa Scalzo and Ana Macha were both named to the First Team. Macha was also a National Fastpitch Coaches Association First Team All Region player as well.
In the past, Lee has had three on the first team D2CCA. Sidney Lee was honored in 2022, Taylor Moran was on it in 2017, and Emily Dagnan in 2016. On the second team was Abby McKinney in 2017.
Ana Macha was also named to the First Team All-GSC this season. Ana Macha had a dynamic season at the plate for the Lady Flames. She had the best batting average in the GSC. She has more hits than anyone else. Macha had the second most steals, top five in runs scored, and top sixth in on base percentage. Defensively, she had a .963 fielding percentage, as an outfielder she had over 50 putouts and two assists. Macha was a Second Team All-GSC in 2023.
Alexa Scalzo had a fantastic season at the plate for the Lady Flames. She was a First Team All-GSC member. She is in the top seven in batting average in the GSC. She is in the top four in hits. Scazlo scored more runs than anyone else in the GSC by nine and the top 15 for RBI. She was also in the top ten in doubles, and top six for home runs in the GSC. She is in the top five for steals and top 12 in hit by pitch. Defensively, she led in assists by double digits in the GSC. She also leads in fielding double plays.
Coach Emily Russell is proud of what her two players accomplished this season. "Lexi and Ana are two of the best players I have coached. They are both very talented athletes that raise the level of their teammates. They are both so deserving of this honor for the season they had this year. They were consistent in their performance and preparation."
All the First Team honorees are now eligible for selection to the 2025 D2CCA Division II All-America squads.
