Simes Named First Team Academic All-America®

AUSTIN, Texas – The honors keep rolling in for Lee University's Ashleigh Simes as she was named First Team Academic All-America® selected by College Sports Communicators on Tuesday. Simes was one of 18 members of the Academic All-America® Division II women's tennis teams.

To qualify for the recognition, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), and student-athletes must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played or must start in at least 66 percent of the games. Simes, a Business Administration major, attained a 3.66 GPA to join five others on the First Team.

This was the 21st time a Lee student-athlete has earned Academic All-America® honors and only the fifth since becoming full members of the GSC and NCAA Division II. Simes is the first member of the tennis program (male or female) to earn a spot on any of the Academic All-America® teams.

The Division II Academic All-America® program is financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist the College Sports Communicators with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Division II Academic All-America® program.
