HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The 12
th-ranked Lee University men's cross country team began its 2025 season with a seventh place finish at the Southern Showcase. The 8K race was hosted by Jacksonville State University at John Hunt Park.
In a race filled with NCAA DI competition, the Flames collected 200 points to be the top finishing non-DI team. Southern Indiana was the next DII school at No. 11 with 345 points.
Alabama was the overall team winner with 32 points. Kentucky claimed second with 131 points and Lipscomb was third (138).
Dismus Lokira of Alabama was the top individual with a time of 23:11.08. Alabama also claimed the second finisher in Dennis Kipruto at 23:20.62 and MTSU's Allan Kiplagat was third (23:22.64).
The Flames' first finisher was Pierre Chauveau. He completed the race in 25
th overall with a time of 24:14.03. Luke Gaddis placed 32
nd (24:25.58), Tucker Wright finished 34
th (24:27.01) and Edimo Ninteretse (24:30.86) was 36
th overall. Chris Ross was Lee's final scorer at No. 85. He posted a time of 25:02.73.
Evan Moore and Jayden Allred completed the top seven runners for Lee. Moore was 138
th at 25:23.63 and Allred finished 139
th (25:25.78). Parker Campbell was close behind at 140
th (25:27.98).
Conner Campbell's time of 25:33.14 was good for 144
th overall. Elijah Moran (25:40.09) was 157
th and Nathan Fontan (26:09.91) finished 225
th. Kenneth Bishop and Ben Flanigan were the final two Lee runners in the field of 460. Bishop placed 260
th (26:28.95) and Flanigan was 304
th (26:51.77).
The Flames return to competition on September 27 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, at the Lucian Rosa Cross Country Invitational. The meet will be held on the same course as the 2025 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships.
