Winsett's Career Day Leads Lady Flames to a Split With Young Harris

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga.– Freshman Sadie Winsett had seven RBI in game two of the double header against Young Harris College and helped lead the Lee University team to a split on Tuesday afternoon. Winsett's seven runs driven in is tied for second most in a single game in Lee history.  Winsett hit a grand slam on the way to a 7-4 win in game two. In the first game, Lee lost in a pitching duel 2-1. 
 
With the split, the Lady Flames' record went to 4-4. They will head to South Carolina this weekend for four games.
 
The record for most RBI in a game for Lee is eight which has been done twice. It was last done by Stevie Baird vs Christian Brothers University on April 15, 2017.
 
GAME 1
 
The only run for Lee came in the third inning. The Lady Flames left the bases loaded in the top of the first and could not score a run. In the third, Eva Armstrong led the inning off with a single. After she stole second base. She advanced to third on a groundout. Addi Lewis brought her home then with a single to left. YHC tied the game in the bottom of the third with a double, single, and a groundout.
 
Lee left base runners on in the fifth and the sixth. YHC won the game in the bottom of the seventh using two singles and a double to win.
 
Lewis had two of the six hits for Lee. Kaylee Underwood got the start for Lee in the circle. She threw four and two-thirds innings. She gave up one run on four hits with one strikeout. Ella Baker threw two innings in relief and received the loss. She gave up one run on four hits as well and had one strikeout. 
 
GAME 2 
 
It was the Winsett show from the start. After Armstrong walked to start the game, Winsett homered to straight away center field to give Lee the 2-0 lead. In the second inning Lee struck again with four runs off of a grand slam from Winsett, Kaelin Ault walked, Armstrong singled, and Reese Haun walked to lead the bases and Winsett brought them all home.
 
Young Harris answered with a bases clearing double from Hailey Cummings. Lee got out of the inning when Cummings tried to stretch the double into a triple. YHC added their final run in the third with a solo home run.
 
The final run of the game came when Winsett singled to score Armstrong.
 
Armstrong and Winsett each had three hits. Armstrong also had three runs scored.
 
Layne Bailey threw the complete game and earned the win. She gave up four runs on 11 hits with one strikeout.
