Lady Flames Drop Series Finale to MC

Box Score CLINTON, Miss. – The Lee University softball team came up short in the final game of the series against Mississippi College 5-2 on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Flames scored the first two runs of the game, but the Choctaws scored five straight to earn the win. With the loss, Lee fell to 10-22 and 3-9 in Gulf South Conference play. The Lady Flames will return home next weekend to host Christian Brothers University.
 
Hailey Simco started the game off with a walk. Eva Armstrong doubled to bring Simco home. Then a double from Hayden Gardner scored Armstrong and Lee led 2-0.
 
MC took the lead in the bottom of the second. They used three singles and two doubles to plate four runs. The final run of the game came in the third after a double and an error brought Sara Lee home for MC.
 
After the first inning, the Lady Flames did not have another base runner. Layne Bailey threw four innings and gave up 12 hits and five runs. Sadie Winsett had two hits given up in two innings. Gardner and Armstrong had the only hits for Lee.
