Lady Flames Golf Sweeps GSC Major Awards

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - After a fantastic regular that was capped off with the Gulf South Conference championship title, the Lee University women's golf team swept all three major postseason awards as announced on Wednesday. Senior Hannah Nall was named the GSC Golfer of the Year, Justine Emond was named the GSC Freshman of the Year, and Geandra Almeida was named the GSC Coach of the Year. In addition, Nall, Emond, Emilia Nordström, and Olivia Ireland were named to the First Team All-GSC.

Coach Almeida is proud of what her team accomplished this season.  "Having four players on the First Team—Hannah, Emilia, Justine, and Olivia—really reflects the culture and standard we've built as a program. I'm really proud of what we've accomplished so far this season."

It is the second straight year that Nall has been the golfer of the year. It is also the fourth straight year for Lee to have the golfer of the year. Supuschaya Srinchantamit earned the award in 2022-23 and 2023-24. Nall was on the All-Tournament team this season. Nall is the nine GSC golfer all time to be a four time All-GSC member. She is also only the third golfer to have been selected to the first team all four years. During the regular season she played 22 rounds and had a scoring average of 71.5. She is ranked at number four in the country. She has two individual wins this season and has six top five finishes. She was the GSC player of the Week four times and has 12 rounds of ever par or better. Coach Almeida notes on Nall, "For Hannah to be named back-to-back GSC Golfer of the Year is a true testament to her hard work, commitment, and growth over the years, as well as her investment in this program. I'm incredibly grateful for her belief in our process and in the vision we have for this program."

Emond is the second straight Lady Flame to be the GSC Freshman of the Year. Lehane Louis-Dumond earned the award last season. Emond was also on the GSC All-Tournament team this season. She played in 22 rounds this season and has a scoring average of 75.0. She has four rounds of even par or better and was the GSC Freshman of the Week four times. Coach Almeida is excited for what Emond accomplished. "I'm also super excited for Justine being named Freshman of the Year. That recognition speaks volumes about her consistency and work ethic all season long."

It is the third time that Almeida was named the coach of the year. She also earned the recognition in the 2022-23 season and the 2023-24 season.  It is the sixth time that a Lady Flame coach has won the award as former coach John Maupin won the award three times.

For Nordström, it is her first time being on an All-GSC team. She was a member of the GSC All-Tournament team this season. She played in 22 rounds with a scoring average of 74.9 this season. SHe has three top five finished and four rounds of even par or better. She was also named GSC Player of the Week once.

Ireland is also on the First Team All-GSC for the first time. She played in 22 rounds this season with a scoring average of 75.0. She has six rounds at even par or better and was named the GSC Player of the Week once.

Coach Almeida concluded, "I'm proud of this group for trusting the process and showing up every day ready to give their best. Being named Coach of the Year is truly humbling, but it's a reflection of the people around me—our players, staff, and everyone who supports this program daily. Their commitment, belief, and hard work are what make all of this possible."
