Lady Flames Run at GSC Event

Prepare For NCCAA National Championships

Lady Flames run in recent action at Berry College.

HOOVER, Ala. – The Lee University women's cross country team ran at the Gulf South Conference Championships Saturday morning. The Lady Flames finished tied for sixth out of 11 teams, but were not included in the official team results due to their provisional status.

The University of Alabama in Huntsville claimed the team title with 47 points. Union University (50) was second and University of West Florida was third (103). Lee tied University of North Alabama with 159 points.

Cayce Bryan was the first Lady Flame across the finish line at 19:54.66. She placed 20th out of 84 runners. Ashley Matthews was close behind at 25th (20:18.36).

Jessica Childers was 32nd (20:43.57), Victoria Yates was 36th (20:48.71) and Emily Bryan rounded out Lee's top five with a time of 21:05.97 (49th).  

Emily Arnesen (21:13.77) was 53rd and Storyie Miller was 62nd at 21:42.49. Rachel Riel (72nd, 22:33.67) and Emily Carden (79th, 23:36.68) were the final Lady Flames to finish the 5K distance.

Up next for Lee will be the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Championships in Cedarville, Ohio, November 16.
