The Lee softball team (22-3, 9-1) suffered their first conference loss of the season dropping game two of  a doubleheader with Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) foe Brewton-Parker College (15-9, 3-3) Tuesday evening at Butler Field.

LEE 4, BPC 8
Despite committing five errors, Brewton-Parker College defeated the Lady Flames, 8-4 in game two of the twin bill.

Myia Ashmore went the distance for the Barons giving up four runs (three earned) in seven innings of work. Ashmore walked three and struck out one to record the win.

After scoring twice in the first inning the Barons were held in check by Lee starter Jessa Watts until the fifth inning. Marie Stermon lead off the inning with a single. After a line out, Marissa Brown singled to put two on with one out. Watts would then get her counterpart, Ashmore to ground out to second for out number two. Lauren Clinton then reached on a Lee error allowing Stermon to score. Samantha Martin would really make the Lady Flames' miscue hurt with a two-run double to put BPC ahead 5-2.

Lee would bounce back in the bottom of the fifth.  Amanda Lynn reached on a error and came around to score on a triple by Dominique Hannah. Jennifer Ringle's RBI single scored Hannah to cut the margin to 5-4. After an error and walk, Ashmore was able to work out of the bases loaded jam by getting Caroline MacAusland to line out to second to end the inning.

The Lady Flames had plenty of chances throughout the game, leaving 10 runners on base.

Watts (4-1) was tagged with her first loss of the season. The sophomore worked 4 2/3 innings giving up five runs but only two were earned. She walked one and struck out six. MacAusland worked the final 2 1/3 innings giving up three runs (two earned). The freshman struck out one and walked one.

Dominique Hannah went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI. The sophomore is now hitting  .547  on the year. Watts was 1-for-2 at the plate and drove in a run. 

Brewton-Parker's Marissa Brown lead the way offensively for the Barons. She went 3-for-3 with a home run and scored twice. Desiree Kendrick was 2-for-5 with a double and two runs scored. Ashmore helped her own cause with a pair of hits and an RBI. 

Lee will be back in action on Friday for another SSAC clash when they travel to Mobile, Ala. to battle Spring Hill College. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.

LEE 6, BPC 3
Lee rallied from a three-run deficit to take game one, 6-3 over Brewton-Parker College.

Angie Hughes (12-1) settled in after giving up three runs in the first two innings to earn her team-leading 12th victory of the season. Hughes worked 5 2/3 innings giving up three runs on seven hits. The freshman struck out four and walked two.

Dezirae Parsons connected on a three-run homer to tie the game in the bottom of the second for the Lady Flames. Lee would complete the comeback effort in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Ringle.

Hannah provided some insurance with a two-run bomb down the right field line in the sixth inning. The Lee leadoff hitter now has five home runs on the year.

 MacAusland worked a scoreless 1 1/3 innings for the save. The right hander struck out three and walked one.

Crystal Ward started in the circle for the Barons and worked 5 2/3 innings giving up six runs on seven hits. Ward walked six and struck out a pair. Lauren Simerly came on to get the final out of the sixth innning. She gave up a walk and an RBI single to Ana Coscorrosa before retiring the side.

Heather Sutliff gave the Georgia based club the early lead with a two-run homer in the first inning off of Hughes.
