RESULTS

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Lee University women's cross country team had the top three finishers on their way to winning a third-consecutive Gulf South Conference Championship. The Lady Flames placed all eight of their runners among the top 23 finishers on their way to recording a team score of 27. Union University was second with 75 points and Mississippi College was third (87).

"Our women did a phenomenal job," said Lee head coach Caleb Morgan. "It was just a really solid job overall and they really showed up. It's one thing to be ranked highly and have a target on your back, but to actually come out and perform at the high level that they did shows how tough this team is."

Celine Ritter was the individual champion of the women's 5K run. Ritter crossed the finish line at 18:01.98. Right behind her were Chloe Flora (18:07.64) and Charlee Boxall (18:31.35).

Toni Moore stopped the clock at 19:04.85 for seventh. Olivia McLain (19:31.08) and Becca Umbarger (19:31.40) were 14th and 15th, respectively. Emma Clark completed the course in 19:39.54 for 19th and Kendra Irvine was 23rd overall (20:14.77).

Ritter, Flora, Boxall and Moore all earned First Team All-GSC by finishing in the top 10. Earning Second Team All-GSC honors were McLain, Umbarger and Clark. Ritter was named the GSC Runner of the Year, while McLain became the GSC Freshman of the Year and Morgan received GSC Coach of the Year recognition.

Up next for the Lady Flames will be the NCAA Division II South Region Championships on November 9 in Lakeland, Florida.
