Lacrosse Grounds Flying Fleet, 19-6

Box Score DUE SOUTH, S.C. – The Lee women's lacrosse team made it three straight victories with a dominating road 19-6 victory over Erskine on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Flames led from start to finish as sophomore Dariana Blanton paced the Lee high-powered attack with six goals and an assist. Freshmen Kelsey McGowan and Jolee Davis added three scores each.

Lindsey Glass had two saves and allowed just six goals in earning the win in goal for the Lady Flames. Glass improves to 2-1 in goal for Lee. "Lindsey Glass did a great job in goal in her first start," said Lee head coach Derrel Martin. "Our defense worked great in frustrating the Erskine attack by using our zone."

Lee dominated the box score outshooting Erskine 34-11, held a 12-8 edge in groundballs, 16-9 in draw controls, 16-9. The backer-zone defense of the Lady Flames helped to force 21 turnovers.

"Today we controlled the ball really well against Erskine. We were efficient on the offensive end of the field and were able to run different sets each time down the field," said Martin. "Brittany White showed power and good technique on the draw which helped us establish our possessions."

Faith Flanagan led the Flying Fleet with three goals while Paige LeBlanc scooped up four groundballs. Myers and Coward combined in goal. Myers had four saves and allowed five goals while Coward started and gave up 14 goals to go along with four saves of her own.

The win moves the Lady Flames to 5-2 on the year, surpassing last year's win total just seven games into the 2020 season. The Flying Fleet fall to 0-7. Lee will stay in the Palmetto State and visit Converse College on Monday at 6 p.m.
