HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The No. 5 Lee University women's cross country team placed four runners in the Top 20 on its way to winning the UAH Chargers Cross Country Invite Saturday morning at John Hunt Park. The Lady Flames collected 53 points to win the team competition by 29 points. No. 15 Southern Indiana finished second with 82 points and No. 19 Dallas Baptist (138) was third.
Celine Ritter covered the 5K course in 16:47.09 to claim the individual win 18 seconds ahead of her closest competitor. Jennifer Comastri of Southern Indiana finished second at 17:05.71. Toni Moore gave Lee two finishers in the top three with a time of 17:18.98.
Danielle Horter placed 11
th with a time of 17:46.38. Grace Adams (17:56.03) and Olivia McLain (18:03.35) were 16
th and 22
nd, respectively, to complete the Lee scoring. Ashlyn Iliff and Aria Hawkins acted as Lee's spacers. Iliff finished 25
th (18:08.46) and Hawkins was 32
nd (18:13.05).
Lily Hare stopped the clock at 18:16.78 for 37
th out of 292 runners. Phoebe Moran finished 43
rd (18:20.56), Elizabeth Beckham was 75
th (19:03.59), Elizabeth Heckman placed 94
th (19:17.98) and Kaitlyn Sesler's time of 20:27.42 put her in 183
rd.
The Lady Flames return to action on October 23 at the Gulf South Conference Championship. The 5K race is scheduled to be held at Choctaw Trails in Clinton, Mississippi.
