No. 13 Spartans Take Down Lady Flames

Coach Martin and the Lady Flames will open GSC play on Wednesday.
Box Score TAMPA, Fla. – The No. 13 Tampa Spartans showcased why they are one of the top teams in the country as it handed the Lee women's lacrosse team a 21-3 defeat on Friday evening.

Dariana Blanton added to her team leading 25 goals with two on the night. Caleigh Kenna registered the two other scores for the Lady Flames.

Alex Walling was stellar in goal for the Spartans as she allowed just four goals and posted 11 saves. Kaleigh Bernard suffered the loss in goal for Lee, allowing 16 goals while tallying six saves in 35:32 of action. Caleigh Smith finished the contest and had four saves while yielding six goals.

Sarah Hinkle and CeCe Colombo led the Spartans with four goals each. Tampa scored six goals in the first three quarters and finished it off with four in the final period. Lizzie Pierpont, Olivia Mott, and Madison Birch had three goals each.

Tampa outshot the Lady Flames 42-20. The Spartans made life tough on the Lady Flames with 17 caused turnovers as Waters paced the defensive effort with four.

Lee drops to 3-5 on the season while the Spartans improve to 3-3. The Lady Flames will open up GSC play on Wednesday as they travel to take on the Shorter Hawks. Opening draw is scheduled for 5 p.m.
