Lady Flames Place Second At Tennessee Cross Country Invitational

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The 12th-ranked Lee University women's cross country team opened its season with a second-place finish at the Tennessee Cross Country Invitational. The three-mile race was held at Cherokee Farms Cross Country Course.

The Lady Vols claimed the top seven scoring positions to post a perfect team score of 15 points to claim the overall win. Lee was second with 56 points, while Tennessee Tech (89) and Chattanooga (99) were third and fourth, respectively. Chesney Peterson was the individual winner with a time of 17:18.10.

Aria Hawkins was the first Lady Flame to cross the finish line. Her time of 17:29.70 was the eighth-best among scorers and 11th overall. McKenna Cavanaugh was 13th with a time of 17:36.00. Lily Hare gave Lee three runners in the top 15 after stopping the clock at 17:37.10.

Ashlynn Iliff and Katie Krueger completed the Lee scorers. Iliff was 21st overall at 18:09.60 and Krueger was 22nd (18:12.30). Zoe Brickley and Liza Kellerman were the Lee spacers with Brickley placing 25th (18:24.70) and Kellerman in 27th (18:54.50).

Phoebe Moran posted a time of 19:14.70 to finish 30th. Julia Halterman placed 36th with a time of 19:41.60.

The Lady Flames return to action on Friday, September 15 at the Southern Showcase in Huntsville, Alabama. The 5K race will be contested at John Hunt Cross Country Park.
