RESULTS
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Lee University women's cross country team finished ninth out of 36 teams Friday morning at the Southern Showcase. The 5K race was hosted by Jacksonville State University at John Hunt Cross Country Course.
Ole Miss was the overall team winner with 50 points. Auburn University was second with 87 points, Tulane University was third (94) and the No. 13 team in NCAA Division I Alabama tied Kentucky for fourth with 108 points. The Lady Flames, ranked No. 8 in NCAA DII, collected 239 points for ninth. Lee was the top non-DI team in the meet.
Aria Hawkins and Lily Hare were the first two Lee runners to cross the finish line. Hawkins was 32
nd overall at 17:35.80 and Hare placed 33
rd with a time of 17:39.30. Alabama's Doris Lemngole was the top individual after stopping the clock at 16:12.10.
McKenna Cavanaugh (18:00.40) finished 54
th and Zoe Brickley was 63
rd (18:09.80). Lee's final scorer was Katie Krueger at 18:26.60 (78
th).
Danielle Horter and Katie Beam were the team's spacers. Horter stopped the clock at 18:27.80 for 81
st and Beam claimed 94
th place (18:39.70) to give the Lady Flames seven runners in the top 100.
Phoebe Moran's time of 18:49.60 was good for 106
th. Liza Kellerman (18:58.40) was 118
th, Julia Halterman finished 131
st (19:08.70) and Elizabeth Heckman placed 164
th (19:37.40) among the field of 332 runners.
The Lady Flames are scheduled to return to action on September 30 at the 22
nd Annual Live in Lou Cross Country Classic. The competition will be held at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky.

"Our women had a much better showing than at University of Tennessee. We still haven't run our full line up, we plan to in two weeks."
