RESULTS
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Lee University women's cross country team placed 13
th out of 33 teams Saturday morning at the UAH Chargers Cross Country Invitational. The 6K run was held at John Hunt Cross County Park.
Pittsburg State placed first with 62 points and Chico State was second with 67 points. Cedarville University completed the top three with 97 points. The Lady Flames collected 345 points and finished just behind Alabama Huntsville (343) and ahead of Mississippi College (352).
"We sat out our top seven women from the Louisville meet to get in a big training block before conference," said Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Caleb Morgan. "We had a couple of women we felt needed one more competition before heading into the post season."
Katie Krueger was the first Lady Flame to cross the finish line. She placed 26
th out of 279 runners with a time of 21:43.10. Corinne Lynch of Cedarville was the overall individual at 20:39.40.
Katie Beam was second for Lee with an overall finish of 49
th (22:10.60) and Lyndi Chapman completed the circuit in 22:24.20 to place 64
th.
"Katie (Krueger) had a big break through day and led the team like the veteran she is," added Morgan. "Katie (Beam) and Lyndi had personal bests by a significant amount. We are deep and ready for the post season."
Emily Liddle and Karis Kelley rounded out the Lee scoring. Liddle (23:26.30) was 119
th and Kelley was two spots behind at 121
st (23:29.90).
The Lady Flames return to action on October 26 at the Gulf South Conference Championship. The meet was originally scheduled to be held in Valdosta, Georgia, but has been moved to Clinton, Mississippi, due to the effects of Hurricane Helene. The men's 8K race is set for a 10:30 a.m. EDT start at Choctaw Trails.
