Lady Flames Win Fifth Straight South Region Championship With Record-Low Score

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Lee University women's cross country team set a low score record of 18 points to record the program's fifth consecutive NCAA Division II South Region Championship Saturday morning at John Hunt Park.

The Lady Flames had the top three finishers of the 5K race. Four of the top five and six of the top 10 were from Lee as the Lady Flames finished with 18 points. Tampa was second with 79 points and Nova Southeastern secured the final automatic qualifying spot to the NCAA Division II National Championships with 92 points.

Aria Hawkins was the individual champion with a time of 20:32.25. Ana Patricia Campos (20:53.72) was second and Lily Hare (21:10.98) placed third out of 107 finishers.

Letlhogonolo Magoro and Megan Adams completed the Lee scoring. Magoro stopped the clock at 21:33.07 for fifth place, while Adams placed seventh at 21:46.94.

Ashlyn Iliff was the sixth Lady Flame across the finish line. Her time of 22:05.25 was good for 10th overall. Katie Krueger completed the race in 13th with a time of 22:12.84.

During the awards ceremony following the race, all seven Lee runners were recognized as All-South Region performers for finishing in the top 25.

The Lady Flames advance to the NCAA Division II National Championships on November 23 in Sacramento, California.
