Lady Flames Opens Season With Ninth-Place Finish At Southern Showcase

Were Top Non-Division I Team

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The No. 7 Lady Flames opened their 2024 cross country season with a ninth-place finish at the Southern Showcase Friday. The 5K race was hosted by Jacksonville State University Friday morning at John Hunt Cross Country Course.

Alabama, ranked No. 12 in NCAA Division I, was the overall team winner with 52 points. Louisville was second with 68 points and Georgia Tech finished third at 86. The Lady Flames recorded 272 points to be the top non-Division I team.

Aria Hawkins was Lee's top finisher at 17:11.81. She placed 16th overall out of 461 runners. Doris Lemngole of Alabama was the individual winner with a time of 16:03.85.

Letlhogonolo Magoro was the second Lady Flames across the finish line after stopping the clock at 17:54.49 (62nd). Lily Hare placed 69th (17:59.18), while Ana Patricia Campos (18:06.79) and Megan Adams (18:11.07) were Lee's final scorers. Campos finished 80th and Adams was 87th.

Abi Moore and Estella Clemons were Lee's spacers. Moore finished 93rd (19:13.89) and Clemons was 118th (18:30.82).

Katie Beach (18:40.45) was 138th, Katie Krueger finished 141st (18:42.49) and Lyndi Chapman stopped the clock at 18:52.05 for 158th. Ashlyn Iliff (18:58.78) finished 174th with Emily Liddle (19:36.74) and Karis Kalley (20:10.58) rounding out the Lee finishers at 226th and 268th, respectively.

The Lady Flames will be back in action in three weeks when they travel to Louisville, Kentucky, for the Live in Lou Cross Country Classic. Race designation and start time will be announced at a later date.
