MARYVILLE, Tenn. — The Lee University women's lacrosse team used a strong offensive performance and held off a late surge from Lincoln Memorial to earn a 14-12 road victory on Wednesday evening.

Lee (4-4) jumped in front early after a quick scoring run in the first quarter. Following an early Lincoln Memorial (4-3) goal, Emma Bailey tied the contest before Lily Tomczik scored to even the game again at 2-2. The Lady Flames then took control with four unanswered goals, including strikes from Lanie Carroll, Taylor McGovern, and Noelle Harrington, to build a 5-2 advantage before the end of the opening period.

The Lady Flames extended their lead in the second quarter behind goals from Abby Davidheiser and Kaitlyn Lawrence, and back-to-back man-up scores from Carroll and Harrington pushed the margin to 9-3. Lincoln Memorial responded late in the half, however, closing on a 4-0 run to trim the Lee lead to 9-7 at halftime.

Lee regained momentum in the third quarter as McGovern opened the scoring before Carroll added another goal off an assist from Tara Orloski. McGovern later scored again during the stretch, and Bailey added a late goal to help Lee carry a 13-8 lead into the final quarter.

Kylee Kangas extended the advantage to 14-8 early in the fourth quarter, but Lincoln Memorial rallied with four straight goals to cut the deficit to two before the Lady Flames held on in the closing minutes.

McGovern led Lee with three goals and two assists, while Carroll also finished with three goals. Bailey and Harrington each added two goals, with Harrington recording a team-high three assists. Goalkeeper Savannah Weisman made 12 saves in the win, while Tara Orloski controlled eight draws and Lily Tomczik collected five ground balls.

Lee continues its road trip on Monday, March 9, at Saint Leo. First draw is scheduled for 5 p.m.
